Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has been a reporter for over 45 years focused on human suffering in conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry was a reporter for the wars that raged in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and television news reporter and anchor who was best known for her role as a correspondent on the Today show, a news morning program that was broadcast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry is known for her coverage of humanitarian crises and natural disasters particularly in nations affected by conflict. Curry's father served as a sailor with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Her father dated the mother of her in Japan as a stationed in Japan following World War II. In the wake of her father's involvement in the military and the frequent moves they made. Curry finished highschool in Ashland Oregon. In 1978, she graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. The exposure she received to diverse cultures and situations during her growing up years is likely to have influenced the compassion with which she approaches issues of international significance. Curry was not able to be a student at a particular school in Alameda, San Diego Oregon, or Virginia during the two-year period, due to her family relocated frequently. She finally graduated with honors from Ashland High School. In Medford, she started her career in broadcasting at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. When she was 22 she was the station's first female reporter. Then, she was an anchor/reporter at KGW located in Portland Oregon. In Los Angeles, she became a reporter on KCBS TV within four years of having moved to the city. In her time with the station she was awarded 2 Emmy Awards.
